Install Copy to Figma without the Chrome Web Store.

For the early release, Copy to Figma is installed as an unpacked Chrome extension. Follow these steps to load the extension folder, pin it, and activate your license key.

Setup steps

Load the extension manually.

Step 1

Download and unzip the extension

After purchase, download the Copy to Figma extension zip and unzip it. Keep the extracted folder somewhere you will not accidentally delete it.

Chrome will keep reading the extension from that folder.

Step 2

Open Chrome Extensions

In Chrome, open chrome://extensions in the address bar.

You can also use the puzzle icon menu, then Manage extensions.

Step 3

Turn on Developer mode

Enable Developer mode in the top-right corner of the Extensions page.

This reveals the Load unpacked button.

Step 4

Load the folder with manifest.json

Click Load unpacked, then select the extracted Copy to Figma folder that contains manifest.json at the top level.

Do not select the zip file. Do not select only manifest.json. Select the folder.

Step 5

Pin Copy to Figma

Open Chrome's extensions menu and pin Copy to Figma so the capture button is visible in the toolbar.

The toolbar icon uses the four-corner capture mark.

Step 6

Activate your license key

Open the Copy to Figma options page, paste your license key, and click Activate.

If the options page does not open automatically, open it from the extension's Details page.

Activate before capturing real pages.

Copy to Figma opens the activation page on first install. Paste the license key from your purchase email or account page, then click Activate. Once activated, click the toolbar icon on any website to open the capture controls.

If Chrome does not load it.

Pick the extracted folder

Chrome needs the folder that contains manifest.json. If you select the zip or an inner file, Chrome will reject it.

Leave the folder in place

Do not move or delete the extracted folder after loading it. If you do, remove the extension from Chrome and load the folder again.

Use the options page

If activation does not appear automatically, open Chrome Extensions, choose Copy to Figma, then open Extension options.
